Arya Stabs the Knight King Funny
Alert: This story contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season eight, Episode 3.
Tonight, we finally saw the Great State of war between the living and the dead on Game of Thrones and it was over an hour of absolute stress. It didn't seem possible, but after what looked like a hopeless boxing with no end in sight, the Dark King, leader of the White Walkers and wights, met his end. And it wasn't the King in the North Jon Snowfall, former knight Jaime Lannister, an Unsullied soldier, or a Wildling warrior that killed the head White Walker; it was Arya Stark.
The gang at Winterfell followed most of the plan that they devised in the last episode: Hold off every bit much of the Army of the Dead for as long as they could, but leave Bran in the godswood to lure the Dark King out. Eventually, the Night King does go to Bran, fifty-fifty getting through Theon and the Ironborn to achieve his target. But before he tin can practise whatever damage to the new Three-Eyed Raven, Arya comes out of nowhere property Littlefinger's catspaw dagger and attacks him. The Dark King first stops her in a chokehold and knocks the weapon out of her left manus, but she catches information technology with her right hand and stabs him—killing him, the White Walkers, and all the other wights.
The weapon Arya used is pregnant.
Although Arya had a special dragonglass spear made by Gendry for battle, she ended up using Littlefinger'south dagger, which is made of Valyrian steel—a material known to impale White Walkers.
This dagger has been on Game of Thrones since Flavor ane. It was first used by an assassin sent to kill Bran after he survived existence pushed out of the window past Jaime Lannister. Then in Season 7, Arya uses it to kill Littlefinger himself. It only makes sense that Arya saved her little brother using the very dagger that almost killed him in Season ane.

Fans as well pointed out that it was Bran himself who gave Arya the dagger in Season 7. Perhaps he knew she would use it to relieve him in the future.

Where did Arya even come up from?
Before we see the young killer out in the godswood, she's running abroad from wights in the halls of Winterfell. The Hound and Beric Dondarrion save her (the latter dies in the process) and they end up in a room with Melisandre. Arya and the Red Woman recall a prophecy the latter gave the quondam in earlier seasons—about "brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes … optics you'll close forever"—which imply she was destined to kill the Night Male monarch all along.
After that, she runs direct for the godswood, but that's all done offscreen, as the camera cuts to more fighting scenes in Winterfell. There's a lot of focus on Jon Snow equally he tries to reach Bran, which was done intentionally so the viewer would call up he would exist the one to relieve the youngest Stark, manager Miguel Sapochnik told Entertainment Weekly .

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya, was worried people would detest the scene.
"It was so unbelievably heady," Williams told Amusement Weekly. "But I immediately thought that everybody would hate it; that Arya doesn't deserve it. The hardest thing is in whatever series is when you build up a villain that's so incommunicable to defeat and then y'all defeat them. It has to exist intelligently done because otherwise people are similar, 'Well, [the villain] couldn't have been that bad when some 100-pound girl comes in and stabs him.' Y'all gotta make it absurd. And then I told my boyfriend and he was similar, 'Mmm, should be Jon though actually, shouldn't information technology?'"
In a behind-the-scenes video following the episode, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said they knew for 3 years they wanted Arya to be the one to kill the Night King. "She seemed like the all-time candidate provided we weren't thinking about her in the moment," they said.
